Tooth decay sufferers sought for television programme

Posted by Yvonne Wallace

Individuals who are affected by tooth decay are being asked to come forward and appear on a new television programme about the condition.

According to the British Dental Health Federation, ITV is planning to put together a 30-minute documentary on tooth decay under its Tonight strand of shows.

The programme will focus on tooth decay in children in particular, as well as examining what is being done by the oral health industry in order to lessen the problem.

It was noted: “The makers would also like to hear from families where the parents have had their teeth destroyed by decay and don’t want it for their children.”

Those behind the programme also want to hear from any dentists who would be willing to be filmed extracting a tooth for the documentary, which is expected to air in the middle of next month.

Christine Chapman, the Labour AM who chairs the National Assembly’s Children and Young People Committee, recently pointed out the tooth decay of Welsh kids is among the worst in the UK.
