A young dentist from the north-west of England is celebrating after he was picked to win a prestigious award at a recent ceremony.
Dr Stephen Dodd was named the north-west’s Best Young Dentist at the Dentistry Awards and he stated it was an honour to have been selected.
Speaking to the Formby Times, he explained that he is very passionate about his job and loves what he does, “so this has been the icing on the cake”.
Dr Dodd has been working at 10Dental on Scarisbrick New Road since graduating from the University of Manchester five years ago.
The 28-year-old is one of the youngest winners of the prize, which recognises excellence in dentistry and contribution to the profession and can be entered by any dentist working in the UK who is aged 35 or under.
“I always strive to give my patients the best of the best so it’s a real honour to win an award that recognises this,” said Dr Dodd.
Dr Garmory, owner of 10Dental, stated it is “fantastic” that the practice has the best young dentist in the country working there.
“Stephen is very well-respected by both his patients and his colleagues and we are all very proud that he got the recognition he deserved,” he added.
A panel of 11 judges, who are all experts in different areas of dentistry, compiled a shortlist and picked Dr Dodd over two other candidates for the prize at a ceremony that was held last month at the Athena in Leicester.
Maple Dental Care, which is located in Manchester, was recently named Good Practice Scheme Practice of the Year at a ceremony held by the British Dental Association (BDA).
President of the BDA Dr Frank Holloway described the award as a significant achievement for members of staff working at Maple Dental Care.
