The British Dental Health Foundation is among the charities that could be in for a windfall as part of donations being handed out by the organisers of this year’s Dental Showcase.
It has been revealed that the foundation is on a shortlist of three for the £10,000 of funding – along with Dentaid and Bridge2Aid – and chief executive of the body Dr Nigel Carter stated the organisation is “delighted” to have been selected.
He explained all donations to the foundation, whether they are big or small, make a huge difference to the work in the oral health sector it is able to carry out.
“Regular donations are a vital part of our fundraising efforts, particularly in our work to highlight the dangers of mouth cancer, which is now diagnosed in 6,000 people in the UK every year. It is important that we continue to raise awareness of the early warning signs of the disease, as well as the risk factors,” said Dr Carter.
Dental Showcase: A Voyage of Discovery, is set to take place at the ExCeL in London from October 4th to 6th and it is expected that as many as 10,000 individuals from the oral health industry are going to be in attendance over the course of the three days.
The foundation is set to be displaying at the exhibition along with around 30 other organisations, with Dr Carter noting how supporting dental professionals to improve their patient education and communication is an important part of the work the foundation carries out.
It was recently announced by the General Dental Council (GDC) that it is going to be attending Dental Showcase as well, with chair Kevin O’Brien planning to meet registrants and explain the work of the organisation to the oral health professionals at the exhibition.
The GDC’s Customer Advice and Information Team, Standards and Revalidation teams and Registration are all going to be present to answer any questions the dental care professionals at the event have.
