The National Smile Month campaign has come to an end and has reached thousands of people all over the country.
More than 2,500 organisations took part in the scheme, which was designed to raise awareness of oral health matters.
Dental marketing campaigns could highlight the success of the event, which was organised by the British Dental Health Foundation.
Chief executive of the body Dr Nigel Carter stated a greater number of participants were recorded for National Smile Month this year than in the past.
He said: “Although the campaign has come to a close, it is important that we keep educating and reminding people that oral health is an all-year round necessity and is not confined to our campaign.”
Dr Carter recently was named an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours and stated it was a tremendous honour to be selected by the monarch for the accolade.
Companies involved in National Smile Month 2012 included Listerine, Oral-B, Wrigley and Steradent, as well as Bupa, Dencover, Denplan, Save Water Save Money and SleepRight.
