Most people ‘do not brush for long enough’

Posted by Allie Wright

A dental expert has claimed the majority of people do not spend long enough brushing their teeth.

According to prosthodontist Michael Lenchner, while the recommended amount of time to spend on the activity is between two and three minutes, most individuals do not come close to this.

Speaking to the Huffington Post, he recommended investing in an egg timer for their bathroom so that patients are aware of exactly how long they are brushing their teeth for.

It was also noted that there is a need for patients to pay close attention to where in their mouth they are actually brushing, so they need to be looking in the mirror as they do so to check they reach all the necessary parts.

Researchers from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and the University of Bristol in England recently revealed that brushing teeth regularly could help to reduce the risk of heart disease.
