Missing teeth ‘least attractive oral health problem’

New research has highlighted the fact that missing teeth is the oral health problem that is deemed to be most unattractive.

According to a report for National Smile Month, there are a wide range of reasons why people may have lost a tooth and poor dental health standards are not necessarily behind them.

Sporting accidents were named as the reason for a tooth being knocked out in many cases, while fights and incidents with inanimate objects were also highlighted.

Chief executive of the British Dental Health Foundation Dr Nigel Carter stated it is important not to panic in the event of losing a tooth.

He said: “Get to the emergency dentist as soon as possible, as with the right care, the tooth could be successfully put back into the socket.”

Dr Uchenna Okoye, Oral-B dental director, recently told the Huffington Post that the state of Britain’s teeth has improved over the course of recent years.
