Marketing dental health to students

Although it might not seem like it, the years that people are students can be particularly important when it comes to dental health.

With so much going on in their lives; changes in schedules, potentially big moves to new areas or even countries, paying their own bills and taking care of their health is usually a brand new experience for many when they leave home for university.

As there are so many changes happening at once, it can be easy for them to forget about some very important factors, like registering with a new dentist and going for regular checkups, which could be a great area for you to focus your dental marketing.

Student diets are famous for being below par for many reasons, such as lack of cooking knowledge, forgetting to eat or grabbing something for convenience. Stereotypically, they can start to rely on fast food or microwave meals, which are famous for having an excess of sugar in them. Obviously, over time, this is going to have an effect on their oral health and even though they might not realise it – not eating properly can cause calcium deficiencies that are also bad news for their teeth.

With this in mind, it’s a good idea for you to start to think about what kinds of marketing materials people this age will appreciate and that they need to keep their teeth in great shape.

As most students are now very digitally savvy, it makes sense for you to make sure your website is viewable on a mobile format and advertise things like student rates for check-ups or procedures.

Similarly, if you want to run a campaign about how important it is to floss and take care of your teeth before graduation day, an email newsletter campaign or eblast can be really effective in reaching this audience.

Don’t forget, students now are looking for the best information they can find in the quickest time possible, so make your message clear and concise and you can’t go wrong!
