Half of Hampshire residents ‘have not seen dentist in last year’

The release of new figures shows half of residents in Hampshire have not been to see their dentist in the last two years.
As a result of the statistic, a “tooth bus” was sent to Aldershot in order to provide those who need one the most with a free NHS check-up.
Project co-ordinator Racheal Alley told Eagle Radio that the idea of the scheme is to raise awareness of the importance of dental health to individuals who have been skipping appointments to go to their dentist.
She explained there is also a need to “encourage people to sign up to an NHS dentist”, adding: “The dentists have been carrying out a full examination and outlining any treatment needed in the future.”
The General Dental Council recently warned dental professionals across the country that they need to renew their membership to the professional body if they are to be allowed to continue to provide oral health services to the general public.
