The General Dental Council (GDC) has announced it is working on this year’s Dental Showcase, which will be taking place in London next month.
It will be hosted at the ExCel from October 4th to 6th and will see oral health professionals from all over the country travelling to the capital in order to attend.
Staff from the GDC’s Customer Advice and Information Team, Standards and Revalidation teams and Registration are all going to be at the event to answer any of the questions the thousands of attendees may have.
GDC chair Kevin O’Brien is also planning to attend the Dental Showcase to meet registrants and explain the work of the organisation to the oral health professionals at the exhibition.
Some 10,000 dental care workers are expected to travel to the ExCel for this year’s Dental Showcase over the course of the three days.
The GDC will be using the event as a chance to promote its work on the review of Standards for dental professionals, which is its consultation on its mandatory Continuing Professional Development (CPD) scheme and its policy work on Direct Access.
This scheme means giving patients the option to see a dental care professional without having to see a dentist first, it was noted by the GDC in a statement.
Staff from the GDC will also be on hand at the event to highlight the fact that thousands of dental care professionals (DCPs) will complete their first, full five-year Continuing Professional Development cycle next July.
“The GDC wants to ensure DCPs and their employers and colleagues understand the importance of meeting our requirements,” it was pointed out.
Dental Showcase claims to be the UK’s largest dental exhibition and this year it looks set to attract over 10,000 members of the dental team, as well as more than 320 exhibitors.
Its organisers say it is is the most important event in the dental calendar to keep up with the latest thinking and to discover what’s new in the sector.
