Fake dentist ‘made thousands in con’

Posted by Allie Wright

A bogus dentist has been accused of making tens of thousands of pounds from using false qualifications to get jobs in the NHS.

Vinisha Sharma was jailed in March for three years as a result of her actions and a proceeds of crime hearing at Wolverhampton Crown Court estimated she profited from between £156,000 and £162,000, although it is not clear what she did with the money.

It is believed she may have handed “tainted gifts” to her mother with some of the proceeds, reports the Express and Star.

Work she undertook included a spell lasting eight months at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton, with Sharma spending nine years working for seven NHS trusts in total.

The British Dental Health Federation recently claimed as many as one out of every ten individuals may have a phobia of going to the dentist.

But the body pointed out advances in technology mean having work done on teeth and gums will no longer be painful.
