Implant World, a dental marketing event, will be held on January 18th 2014 at Park Plaza Riverbank, London. The focus of the event will be implant dentistry, and is meant for both dentists who have experience with dental implants and those who are new to the concept.
The major providers of implant dentistry in the UK will be at Implant World to help dentists get to grips with the products and services that they offer. Attendees will be able to look at and touch various aspects of implant dentistry, while discussing training and practice with experts.
The providers offer plenty of implant dentistry training, including postgraduate courses where appropriate. Information and advice will be provided at the event as much as possible to help dentists understand whether or not moving into implant dentistry is right for them.
Two speakers will also be present to talk about legal and ethical aspects of implant dentistry, along with GDC Standards.
Julian English, FMC’s editorial director and editor of Dentistry magazine, will host two sessions, while Dental Protection’s senior dento-legal adviser Dr Stephen Henderson will host another.
Dr Henderson will be discussing issues of consent in implant dentistry and other medico-legal challenges, while Mr English’s sessions will be on the new standards in implant dentistry.
These sessions will be very useful, as the GDC has recently revised its ‘Standards’ guidance for dentists that covers implant dentistry and appropriate training. In addition to these, there will be generic lectures on a variety of subjects running throughout the day.
Implant dentistry is dentistry that uses titanium or titanium-alloy implants as a substitution or a replacement for a damaged root. Dental implants are commonly screwed, or sometimes tapped, into position.
Anybody with reasonably healthy gums and bones will be able to benefit from dental implants, although if either of those areas of the mouth are damaged or unhealthy then the implants may not take.
Implant World will be held on January 18th 2014 for industry professionals, and entry to the event is free.
