Education 'is key' to dental marketing

31st August 2010

Successful dental practice marketing relies on being able to relate to and educate patients, it has been stated.

Dr Nate Booth, a consultant, speaker and author in the dental industry, offered some marketing advice for dentists in a recent article for Dental Economics.

He explained that one of the best ways to attract patients is to develop "an effective core story" that patients can empathise with.

"The best core stories educate and intrigue, which pulls people closer to you," Dr Booth commented.

He added that dentists need to market themselves as experts within the community because "people listen to experts".

This also helps to set your dental practice aside as "a trusted resource", rather than just being viewed as a normal dental practice, Dr Booth revealed.

Dental patient education can be one way to achieve this because this creates a positive channel of communication between the local communities and your practice.

Writing on Dentistry IQ recently, Tija Hunter stressed that educating patients about the different treatment options available is "the most important job" a dentist has.
